Great location; you can walk directly to all the trails. Train is close by too. Beds were very firm. I know Japanese futons are often firm but these were even firmer/thinner. If that's your thing, you'll love it.

Overall, we were really happy with our choice to stay at this hotel with our kids. It was a last-minute nature getaway to hike Mt. Takao, and the family room was perfect for us. They even allowed us to check in a little early, which we really appreciated, as this is quite unusual in Japan! The accommodation was just as we hoped it would be and the staff were kind (except for the unusual restaurant situation below). We had good expectations from the other reviews--we knew the mattresses would be thin and the pillows made of beans, so we anticipated a more rustic stay, and we really enjoyed it!
